Celebrity 'Once-Removed' Family in the News - Lebron James

After the sad news broke this week of Julia and Eric Robert‘s half-sister, Nancy Motes’s untimely death possibly due to a drug overdose or maybe a suicide, Miami Beach Police released this DUI Arrest Report of Miami Heat super star and NBA MVP Lebron James‘ stepfather.  Though we are sorry to hear that anyone is suffering (our sympathies to the Roberts family), when did the stepfamily members of a celebrity become public figures?  Why is this news?  And, why are they all getting in such trouble?
