Democrat New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told an ‘intimate’ room of 100 moguls at a $50,000 a couple fundraiser for his reelection held in Fox’s Jim Gianopulos and his wife Ann’s backyard at their home that he wants to try to bring more film and TV business back to NY, as he described, New York as the birthplace of film in America.
The Governor spoke for about 20 minutes, during which, he stressed on the importance he puts on protecting Intellectual Property. Cuomo also acknowledged the value the industry can contribute to the NY economy. Having involvement in the NY State Tax breaks which were tailored and integral in bring The Tonight Show back to New York City, New York has a film/TV tax incentive of more than $420 million (the country’s highest).
We are looking forward to more production back in NYC. We loved the days of Made in New York and only wish other areas (aka Miami Beach, South Florida) would take a clue and we could bring the industry back (from Canada).
